We have started a few demonstration projects and one of those is our sack gardens. Like many Rwandans, we are limited with land and so this is one way we are able to grow more on a small plot of land. Included is the write-up we did that gives step-by-step instructions on how to construct a sack garden and includes pictures of what to do or not to do.
In our experimentation, Joseph has worked alongside me. We have talked with a number of people and showed them these gardens in order for them to be able to replicate this technique. One person in particular is a development worker in Mozambique who is trying his own. Joseph also taught and helped make a sack garden at Thomas’ house. Joseph taught him to make one with the expectation that Thomas will make 5 more at his house.
